Trump says he will prevent implementation of CBDC

Donald Trump, the former U.S. President and leading 2024 Republican Presidential Candidate, has announced that he would prevent the establishment of a digital dollar, also known as a U.S. central bank digital currency (CBDC), if he was re-elected to the presidency this year.

During a campaign speech in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, he said:

To protect Americans from government tyranny, as your President, I will never allow the creation of a central bank digital currency. Such a currency would give a federal government, our federal government, the absolute control over your money [...] they could take your money, and you wouldn’t even know it was gone.
